What is the idea behind this blog?
I have mentioned the idea behind the blog in the sidebar, and let me repeat it here too. Sometime last week, I was feeling so old because of being so close to 30 that I was cribbing non-stop about the impending birthday. And then, thankfully better sense prevailed and I decided since I am not yet 30, but only close, I still had a reason to celebrate. And that is the whole idea of this blog. It is a celebration of still being under 30, still having a full 365 days to touch the Thirty milestone. And no, do not worry, I am not literally depressed or anything about being old, I know that I am really young, just a little older than my daughter and that’s it :-)
Is this a daily painting blog?
No, not even close. I don’t quite like the idea of innumerable number of blogs cropping up calling themselves as Daily Painting blogs. I believe real Daily Painting requires a lot of commitment and great motivation. I don’t think I am there yet, not even in terms of time that I have. By definition, when I say there will be 300 paintings spanning over 365 days, it is obviously not “Daily painting” anymore. This, according to me is a realistic and achievable number, so that’s what I am aiming at. But if you see my current productivity, it is not even close to 150 paintings a year. So compared to my status quo, a big leap it will be, but let me reiterate that Daily Painting it is not.
Why a new blog? Why not on the existing blog itself?
This blog is a yearlong celebration, a unique way to celebrate a new milestone in life. So I thought it would be appropriate to have it separated from my process blog. And I expect this blog to be updated more frequently than my main blog.
What would the content here be like?
This blog is more like a gallery of sorts, where I put up only finished paintings. I will not be sharing any works in progress. If I do have progress images of the paintings that I post here, they will be posted only on my main blog ‘A splash of color’. Any stories related to the paintings will be posted again only on my main blog. This blog is only to showcase completed works and enable you to purchase directly from me.
What happens to this blog after a year?
It is probably too early to say that. If I am able to complete 300 paintings successfully, I might give it a try for another year running, and so on. Or this blog will just remain as it is without new updates, just as a memory of the celebration. The possibilities are endless, so let us see.
